Physical camps that are set up by activists, to either provide a base for members of the protest, or to delay, obstruct or prevent the focus of an opponent's protest by physically blocking it with the camp
By creating a protest camp at the nexus of power in 2015 in Scotland, IndyCamp Live organized themselves as a constant fixture in the ears of Scotish members of Parliament. With the creation of their camp, IndyCamp Live provided a pawn for demands of Scottish independence, reporting that they would leave only with a call for a second referendum vote. The camp served as the center of community organizing for local pro-independence groups in Edinburgh. After eviction proceedings by opponents to IndyCamp failed, the protesters led by People’s Voice established themselves as key actors in the debate over independence in Scotland.
