#LogOutFacebook
In the wake of various data and privacy breeches at Facebook in late 2018, the NAACP called for a #LogOutFacebook where users log out of their Facebook and Instagram accounts for a day. This movement came after a senate report detailed Russian interference and false reporting by the Russian government targeted directly at the Black American community. Although their actions likely won’t make a dent in Facebooks massive size of 1.5 billion users, the Pew Research Center found nearly a quarter of Americans deleted the Facebook app during 2018, and 42% saying they have taken a break from the service. Following the NAACP returning donations from the company, Facebook released an audit detailing their actions to take down accounts seeking to influence political views, showing the direct impact this action had on Facebook's operating procedures.
